MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY


NATIONAL MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY 2008

On the 2008 National Make A Difference Day (Saturday October 25, 2008) The Bethany Group organized ten separate events:

1.   Music recital at Maple Knoll Village nursing home

2.   Music recital at Mason Christian Village nursing home.

3.   Food pantries canned food drive at Fairfield Kroger store.

4.  Therapeutic dog visit at Clermont Nursing Center

5.  Adopt-a-Highway Maintenance between mile markers 28 and 30 on Interstate I-71.

6.  Indian Cultural Slide Show at Maple Knoll Village.

7.  Jarai Project – Send fund for building a well system in Vietnam.

8.  Volunteer at Bethesda North Hospital.

9.  Music recital at Sunnyvale Nursing Home in Mountain View, CA.

10.  Music recital at Twin Towers Place nursing home in Dayton, OH.

NATIONAL MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY 2007

On the 2007 National Make A Difference Day The Bethany Group organized twelve separate events:

1.   Music Recital at Maple Knoll Village.

2.   Recital at the Blue Ash Nursing Home.

3.   Origami session at Bridgeway Pointe Assisted Living.

4.   Clown Show at Mason Christian Village.

5.   Therapeutic dog visit at Clermont Nursing Center.

6.   Slide show on sceneries and tourist attractions around the world at Bridgeway Pointe.

7.   Leprosy Housing – Send raised funds to Vietnam to build the third house for a recovered leper family.

8.   Collect and send letters and care packages to U.S. troops overseas at the Fairfield YMCA.

9.   Adopt-a-Highway maintenance between mile markers 28 and 30 of Interstate I-71.

10.  Food Pantries canned food drive

11.  Volunteer at Bethesda North hospital.

12.  Traditional Indian dance demonstration and slide show on India's culture at Mason Christian Village.

The Bethany Group was recognized at the state level for its participation in the National Make A Difference Day.  The "Raising Roofs in Vietnam" project that supported the Jarai people in Vietnam was chosen to be one of the ten projects (out of over 1,000 Ohio MADD projects) to receive the 2007 Outstanding Project Award from Mrs. Frances Strickland, the First Lady of Ohio.

6.   Cincinnati Art Museum slide presentation on "Christianity in Art” at St. Mary's Memorial Home.

3.   Arts & crafts session at the Meadowbrook Care Center.

4.   Clown Show at St. Mary’s Memorial Home.

5.   Therapeutic dog visit at Clermont Nursing Home.

6.   Cincinnati Art Museum slide presentation on ”Christianity in Art” at the Lodge of Montgomery.

7.   Save the Children – Economic Opportunities program.

8.   Food Pantries canned food drive.

9.   Adopt-a-Highway Maintenance.

10. Volunteer at Bethesda North hospital.

An October 23, 2005 Cincinnati Enquirer article mentioned two of our projects, namely, the clown show and the Economic Opportunities project.  According to this article, there were about 30 diverse 2005 Make A Difference Day projects in the Greater Cincinnati region.  It thus means that our Group had contributed a third of all activities in the Greater Cincinnati area.

Due to its outstanding participation, The Bethany Group was chosen to be the Regional Honoree for the Greater Cincinnati area by the USA Weekend magazine (which organizes the annual Make A Difference Day) and the Cincinnati Enquirer (local participant):
